Billy Gipson, 16, a Black male from Fort Worth, was shot during a confrontation on the evening of June 15, 2025, on Asheville Lane in the city’s south side. Police said two people were arguing in front of a home in the 8400 block when one pulled out a rifle; as a struggle over the weapon began, a third person opened fire with a handgun, striking both Gipson and 25-year-old Jaylan Lemore Sharp.
Gipson was transported from the scene and later died at the hospital, while Sharp was pronounced dead there on the street. The Tarrant County medical examiner later confirmed Gipson’s death, and tributes identified him publicly as one of the two victims.
Investigators quickly focused on a 17-year-old they said intervened in the dispute. Within about two days, Fort Worth police announced the arrest of Marquavius Hunt, 17, on a charge of capital murder of multiple persons in connection with the Asheville Lane killings. Booking records show Hunt was taken into custody in Tarrant County on June 17, 2025, on the capital murder charge.
