On July 12, 2025, Samuel Mason, age 18, male, Black/African American, was killed in a burst of gunfire that shattered a quiet early afternoon at the Bellwood Apartments in Round Rock. What began as a meet-up between two groups for the sale of a firearm turned into a robbery and then a deadly exchange of shots around 1 p.m., leaving four people wounded on the pavement and in breezeways at the complex on South A.W.
