In the quiet community of Burien, a suburb of Seattle, Washington, the life of 16-year-old Angel Gabriel Estrada Carbajal was tragically cut short on the evening of Friday, June 20, 2025. A Hispanic / Latino male, Angel was fatally shot inside a residence, leaving a wave of shock and grief in his wake. The King County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and officially ruled it a homicide, launching an investigation into the
circumstances surrounding the incident.
The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 5:03 p.m. in a home located in the 100 block of SW 142nd Street. First responders from the Burien Police Department arrived at the scene to find the teenager with a critical gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, Angel Gabriel Estrada Carbajal was pronounced dead at the scene, his young life extinguished within the walls of the residence. The King County Sheriff's Office has taken the lead on the homicide investigation. As of late June 2025, authorities had not publicly identified any suspects or a potential motive for the shooting, and no arrests had been announced. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to piece together the events that led to the tragic loss of life.
In the aftermath of his death, the community has rallied to support the grieving family of Angel Gabriel Estrada Carbajal. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist his parents with funeral expenses and to provide them with the means to take time off from work to mourn the loss of their son. The fundraising page described Angel as "a loving son, a loyal friend, and a bright young soul whose life was taken far too soon." He is survived by his mother, father, an 8-year-old sister, and a 4-year-old brother, who are now left to navigate the profound and unimaginable grief of his sudden and violent passing.
