Deshoune Pope, 14, a male freshman at Mathis High School, died on September 6, 2025, after an accidental shooting in Mathis, Texas. According to police, the 14-year-old male Deshoune Pope was at a friend’s home on the 800 block of Olivo Street when he accessed a firearm and fatally shot himself in the eye. He was pronounced dead before arriving at the hospital, and investigators said the case remained active in the immediate aftermath as they worked to determine how the gun came into the boys� ...
