In the quiet, early morning hours of June 22, 2025, in Warrenville, South Carolina, the life of 18-year-old Tranard E. Sheppard, a male, was tragically cut short. Just before 2:00 a.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the stillness near the intersection of Sarah Street and Farrell Street, prompting a 911 call to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Sheppard's body lying in a yard in the 400 block of Sarah Street.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Aiken County Coroner at 2:56 a.m.
The initial investigation into the shooting began immediately, with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office and the Coroner's Office working to piece together the events that led to the young man's death. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed in Newberry to determine the exact cause and manner of death. In the immediate aftermath, authorities had no suspects and urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to an arrest. A break in the case came on July 2, 2025, when the Aiken County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a suspect. Marquis Edric Robinson, a 17-year-old from North Augusta, was taken into custody in Cayce by the Cayce Department of Public Safety with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies. Robinson was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Despite his age, it was determined that he would be prosecuted as an adult under South Carolina law. While an arrest has been made, the investigation remains active, and a motive for the shooting has not been publicly released. Robinson is currently being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
