What was meant to be a joyous occasion for Anderson and Mehili Garcia with their twin infant sons ended in the heartbreaking loss of one of their children. Eight-month-old Anderson Garcia Cabrera Jr., a Hispanic baby boy, was fatally struck by a stray bullet during a sudden outbreak of gunfire at the festival.
His parents, who had struggled with infertility for three years before being blessed with their twin boys, were left devastated by the senseless act of violence that claimed the life of their 'happy baby.'
The family had been enjoying the festivities and were about to leave when a dispute between two groups erupted into chaos. In a selfless act, Anderson Garcia shielded his children's stroller with his own body as gunshots rang out through the carnival. Tragically, a bullet found its way to young Anderson, ending his life in an instant.
