In a quiet community, a deeply disturbing crime unfolded, leaving a family shattered and a baby girl orphaned. On July 29, 2025, 15-year-old Braydon Williams was found deceased in Tiptonville, Tennessee. His death was part of a quadruple homicide that also claimed the lives of his mother, Cortney Rose, 38, his sister, Adrianna Williams, 20, and his sister's boyfriend, James M. Wilson, 21.
The grim discovery of the four victims in a wooded area followed a bizarre and alarming incident that had occurred earlier that day. A 7-month-old baby girl, the daughter of Adrianna Williams and James Wilson, was found abandoned but unharmed in her car seat in the front yard of a random home in Dyer County, nearly 40 miles away. A witness who saw the infant being left by a vehicle promptly called 911.
The investigation into the abandoned baby quickly led authorities to the tragic scene in Lake County where the bodies of her parents, grandmother, and uncle were discovered. This initiated a massive manhunt for the primary suspect, 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond. Described as being known to the victims, Drummond was considered armed and dangerous. A relative of the family expressed their shock and devastation, stating that Drummond had been close to the family and they never expected him to be capable of such violence. Drummond had a significant criminal history, including a conviction for aggravated robbery for which he had been released from prison in September 2024. At the time of the murders, he was out on bond for an attempted murder charge.
After a weeklong search that left the community on edge, Austin Robert Drummond was captured and taken into custody in the woods in Jackson, Tennessee, following tips from residents who had spotted him. He now faces a multitude of charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and firearm offenses. The investigation also led to the arrest of two other individuals, Tanaka Brown, 29, and Giovonte Thomas, 29, who have been charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder for allegedly assisting Drummond. Another person, Derrah Sanders, was also charged with accessory after the fact. While the suspects are in custody, the motive for this horrific crime that took the lives of four family members, including young Braydon Williams, remains under investigation.
