Lavell Scales, 55, a male from Cleveland, was shot on the evening of June 20, 2025, along the 1300 block of East 117th Street in the city's Forest Hills area. Responding officers found two men wounded; both were rushed to University Hospitals' main campus, where Lavell Scales, 55, was pronounced dead from his injuries. The other victim, identified as Edward Walker, 55, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
