Teresa Davis, 63, a Black woman from Henderson, North Carolina, spent Father's Day evening at her Maple Street home with her 26-year-old son, Joseph Jeffreys Jr., when the quiet broke under the pop and echo of gunfire. Officers were dispatched just after 6:45 p.m. on June 15, 2025, and found Teresa Davis, 63, female, and her son suffering from gunshot wounds; medical personnel pronounced both dead at the scene as neighbors gathered behind police tape on the block near South William Street.
