Ruth Antoinette Mallette, a 59-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on April 22, 2018, in Henderson, North Carolina. The Vance County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at her home on Brunswick Lane, where they found her with an apparent gunshot wound. Ruth's death was a devastating end to what was supposed to be a new chapter in her life after moving from Baltimore in 2010.
