Jarvis Perryman, 20, male, spent the first minutes of July 3, 2025 walking with friends through Euclid Beach Park on Cleveland’s lakefront when an encounter turned violent. Around 12:35–12:40 a.m., a man approached, words were exchanged, and the man pulled a handgun from a backpack and opened fire. Jarvis Perryman was struck and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead; a 17-year-old companion was also wounded but survived.
Investigators from Cleveland Metroparks Police, Cleveland police, and EMS secured a sprawling scene from the pier entrance toward nearby apartments as the holiday weekend began.
Detectives pieced together what happened through surveillance footage, witness statements, and physical evidence. In the days that followed, authorities publicized the case, identified the fallen 20-year-old as Jarvis Perryman, and appealed for tips, emphasizing that the shooting began as a dispute near the park’s concession area after closing hours. Two weeks later, Cleveland Metroparks Police arrested 25-year-old Christopher W. Manning in connection with the killing.
