Fireworks were still echoing over Dayton on the night of July 4, 2025 when gunfire cut through the noise on the 3800 block of West Second Street. Police arrived just after 10:30 p.m. to find Oshea Woods, 37, a man gravely wounded, and rushed him to Miami Valley Hospital, where Oshea Woods, 37, a man, was pronounced dead later that night.
