Jaymir Deshea Hill, 15, a Black male from Cincinnati, Ohio, died on July 9, 2025, after he was shot in the Wyoming neighborhood just north of the city, near the intersection of Burns Avenue and Washington Avenue. First responders found him with a gunshot wound to the shoulder shortly before 4 p.m., and he was taken to UC Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Hamilton County Coroner's Office later identified him, and loved ones gathered for a vigil the following evening on the quiet, tree-lined street where he fell. Funeral notices and memorial pages marked his passing and set services for early August.
Investigators with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Wyoming police described the shooting as an isolated incident. Within a day, authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him with murder. A second 14-year-old was later taken into custody in connection with the case and charged with tampering with evidence. Reporters and prosecutors said the encounter stemmed from a reported gun sale between the teens that led to the fatal shot.
Court proceedings began in juvenile court, where prosecutors moved to have the 14-year-old accused of murder tried as an adult. A judge allowed the defense to seek a competency evaluation before any bind-over decision; further hearings were scheduled as the case progressed.
