Late in the afternoon on July 14, 2025, police were called to reports of gunfire at the Keating Pointe apartments on 2nd Street SE in Hickory, North Carolina. Officers arrived around 5:40 p.m. and found Keimarian Donyah Peterson, 22, a Black male from Hickory, deceased at the scene. Investigators said the shooting happened outside the complex at 1123 2nd Street SE, and early accounts described it as a drive-by attack.
