On the night of October 3, 2025, the back parking lot behind Windy City Sundries at 1129 2nd Street NE in Hickory filled with the flashing blue of patrol cars after reports of gunfire. Officers arrived around 11:13 p.m. to find Corbin Noah Davis, 24, a white man from Hickory, mortally wounded; he was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, 23-year-old Tanner Allen Hutchinson of Hickory, was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Through the first hours of the investigation, detectives learned the people at the center of the shooting knew one another. By the next day, investigators named 23-year-old Lamonte Keshawn Ramseur of Newton as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. With assistance from the Catawba County Sheriff's Office and Newton Police Department, Hickory officers took Ramseur into custody on October 4. He was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Corbin Noah Davis, 24, and was booked into the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. Authorities also noted that Corbin Noah Davis, 24, and Tanner Hutchinson, 23, were acquainted with the suspect.
As Corbin Noah Davis, 24, was mourned locally and listed among those “lost to gun violence” on memorial pages, the case moved into the courts. Records and reports indicated a first appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, while investigators said the work of gathering evidence and interviews would continue.
Police have not announced any additional suspects beyond Ramseur. They described the homicide investigation as ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact Hickory Police.
