On the morning of June 10, 2025, Juan Javier Lujan Garces, age 29, a male and Hispanic/Latino, drove west along Picacho Avenue in Las Cruces as rush-hour light pooled across the intersection at North 17th Street. Around 8:30 a.m., gunfire shattered the routine.
