In the early morning hours of August 31, 2025, a dispute that began at a party escalated into a fatal shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, leaving two teenagers dead, including 15-year-old Lamar White. The incident, which police do not believe was a random act of violence, unfolded near the intersection of East Murray Drive and Camina Entrada at approximately 1:54 a.m. When Farmington Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds.
All three were transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where Lamar White and 19-year-old Jesse Hensley were pronounced dead. A third individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigations into the shooting revealed a complex and tragic sequence of events that had started with a quarrel at a quinceanera. According to police reports, Lamar White and Julian Jaramillo, 21, were involved in a dispute at the party. Later that night, the conflict continued when the individuals involved met again. During this subsequent confrontation, it is reported that Lamar White produced a firearm and shot Jesse Hensley, who was unarmed. In the immediate aftermath, another individual, identified in some reports as Jesse Hensley's brother, Bill Hensley, allegedly shot Lamar White. A police report states that Bill Hensley admitted to shooting White after witnessing his brother being shot.
The investigation into the double homicide is ongoing, and as of the latest reports, no arrests have been made. Bill Hensley has been named as a suspect in the police report, although his name was redacted in some public documents as he had not been formally charged. Police have collected numerous spent shell casings from different caliber firearms at the scene, indicating that multiple shots were fired. A search of Lamar White's vehicle uncovered alcohol and ammunition. White's mother informed police that her son had been in trouble for a drive-by shooting the previous year.
