On June 19, 2025, police were called to the 4300 block of Northern Avenue around 10 p.m. following reports of a disturbance and the sound of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered a chaotic scene outside one of the apartment buildings.
Lying wounded was 26-year-old Mikeal B. Copenhaver.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and despite the quick response from paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was also found at the location with gunshot injuries. He was transported to a local hospital with wounds that were described as not life-threatening. The male victim's identity was not publicly released.
