Jeffery Lamont Bolton, 24, a Black man from Jackson, was shot to death on May 19, 2025, across from Green Elementary School on Hillside Drive and Forest Avenue. Jackson Public School District officials placed the campus on a temporary lockdown around 1:45 p.m. after reports of gunfire; investigators said the victim had been shot multiple times, and Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard pronounced Jeffery Lamont Bolton dead at the scene.
