On a Saturday morning in Jackson, New Jersey, the life of 28-year-old Toraya Reid was tragically cut short. On September 6, 2025, police responded to a 911 call reporting gunfire at the Paragon Apartment complex on Larsen Road. Arriving at the scene around 11 a.m., officers discovered Reid unresponsive near the exit of the complex, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding officers quickly apprehended a suspect seen fleeing the area on North New Prospect Road. The man was identified as 29-year-old Shaquille Green, who was reportedly in a dating relationship with Reid. An investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, the Jackson Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit identified Green as the individual responsible for her death.
Shaquille Green, also of Jackson Township, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder,
possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Authorities stated that Green and Reid were in a 'dating relationship.' According to an affidavit of probable cause, Green informed detectives that he believed Reid was cheating on him after seeing another man leave her apartment earlier that morning. One witness reported hearing a woman scream in an apartment, followed by a gunshot, while another claimed to have seen Green shoot Reid while she was on the ground. Green is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
