Donnie Ray Bender Jr., a 32-year-old Black/African American man, died after being shot at a home on Graves Road in Jones County, just outside Ellisville, Mississippi, in the early hours of September 8, 2025. Deputies and medics responded to the scene, and Bender was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities noted the shooting happened in the 500 block of Graves Road and occurred early Monday morning.
