Troy Andre Morris, Jr., 25, a Black man from Chicago, was spending the early evening of May 15, 2025 in Calumet Park along the Far South Side lakefront when a quarrel spiraled into gunfire.
Around 6:30 p.m., in the 9900 block of South Crilly Drive, an argument erupted between Troy Andre Morris, Jr., 25, and two companions, both 26, and another person in the park.
In the next moments, the other individual drew a gun and opened fire.
A bullet struck Troy Andre Morris, Jr., 25, in the back.
He was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.
Police and the Cook County medical examiner confirmed the identity and age of the victim and noted that the two other men were critically wounded after being shot multiple times, one taken to the same hospital and the other to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
