On December 2, 2024, a tragic mass shooting occurred in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Osmer Angel Ferrer Oria. The incident took place around 2:10 p.m. at a residence in the 3500 block of West 59th Street, where a gathering was underway. In total, eight individuals—four men and four women, aged between 20 and 35—were shot during the event. Among the deceased were 28-year-old Jon Carlos Blancarcer and 26-year-old Hector M. Sajo.
