On the evening of May 24, 2025, Walter Marcus Wilkins, a 36-year-old Black/African American male from Quincy, Massachusetts, was fatally shot in Boston. The incident occurred around 9:46 p.m. on Franklin Hill Avenue in the Dorchester neighborhood, where gunfire erupted, leaving two men with life-threatening injuries. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following a ShotSpotter activation.
Wilkins was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim, identified as 66-year-old Anthony McIntosh of Dorchester, also succumbed to his injuries in the days following the shooting. The double shooting marked another instance of gun violence in the city as summer approached.
Born in Boston on November 12, 1988, to Michelle Wilkins and Larry Williams, Walter was a father to his son, Jawaun Wilkins. He is survived by his mother and several siblings. Friends and family remembered him by the nickname "Weezy" and shared memories of his kindness. Funeral services were scheduled for early June at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Mattapan, with his burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park.
In the wake of the shooting, the Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation, canvassing the neighborhood for evidence and appealing to the public for any information. As of the initial reports following the incident, no arrests had been announced, and no suspects had been publicly identified in connection with the deaths of Walter Marcus Wilkins and Anthony McIntosh.
