In the early evening of Monday, June 9, 2025, the life of Anildo Cardoso, a 41-year-old Black / African American male from Roxbury, Massachusetts, was tragically cut short. Just before 9 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. Officers from the C-11 district were dispatched to the area of 11 Levant Street following a ShotSpotter activation.
While on their way, they received an updated report of a person shot in front of 4 Levant Street.
Upon their arrival at the scene, police discovered Anildo Cardoso suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Boston EMS personnel responded quickly and transported him to Boston Medical Center. Despite their efforts, Cardoso was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit has taken charge of the investigation into the fatal shooting.
