In the early moments of May 1, 2025, Nakia Jerome Davis Jr., a 25-year-old male, was at a Shell gas station on Cascade Road near Fairburn Road in South Fulton, Georgia. As he was pumping gas, three individuals rushed toward him. In an act of sudden violence, they shot him in his chest, arm, and liver. Despite the severity of his wounds, Davis managed to get back into his vehicle and drive about a block away before he was found and transported to a local hospital.
For nearly two weeks,
Davis fought for his life. His family remained by his side, holding onto hope. A cell phone video taken the day after the shooting showed him squeezing his cousin's hand from his hospital bed. His family was able to spend one last Mother's Day with him before his condition took a turn for the worse. On the afternoon of May 12, 2025, Nakia Jerome Davis Jr. succumbed to his injuries.
Remembered as a talented and multifaceted individual, Davis had been a quarterback at B.E.S.T. Academy High School and played college football at Miles College. More recently, he had been actively pursuing a career in rap music, even traveling to different states to perform and share his work. Above all his other accomplishments, his family remembers his greatest role as being a loving father to his one-year-old son.
The South Fulton Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide. Surveillance footage from the gas station captured an SUV pulling into the parking lot, from which three suspects are seen exiting while a driver remained inside. Investigators believe the motive was an attempted robbery. The case remains ongoing as authorities continue to search for the three individuals responsible for the attack. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta for any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects. The family of Nakia Davis Jr. continues to seek justice for the men they describe as 'monsters' who took their loved one from them.
