In the quiet evening hours of September 10, 2025, tragedy struck in a West Baltimore neighborhood, forever altering the lives of one family. Zayone Burman, a 24-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the 1100 block of Ashburton Street. The incident, which occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m., prompted a swift response from the Baltimore Police Department after a ShotSpotter alert notified them of gunfire in the area.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered Zayone Burman
suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the exhaustive efforts of medical personnel, the severity of his injuries proved to be overwhelming, and he was pronounced deceased.
The Baltimore Police Department's homicide detectives have since taken control of the investigation into Burman's death.
