Do you know who murdered Shirley Ann Stanton?
On March 16, 1989, the body of Shirley Ann Stanton, a Caucasian female, was discovered off the side of a road near Laughlin, Nevada, by passengers on a bus. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene and determined that Stanton was the victim of a homicide. Her body had been there for several days before being found.
At the time of her death, Stanton was in the process of relocating from Bedford, Texas, to Porterville, California. She had been experiencing car trouble during her journey and had been in contact with her mother to report on her trip's status. Her vehicle was later found abandoned, with her dog still inside, near the Vicksburg overpass on Interstate 10 in New Hope, Arizona. This location is in La Paz County, approximately 100 miles east of Phoenix, and near a truck stop. A white semi-tractor trailer rig was reportedly seen near her vehicle.
Despite the investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section, no suspects have ever been identified in the murder of Shirley Ann Stanton. Her case remains an unsolved homicide. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding her death to contact the LVMPD Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers.
