Willie Lemar Jr., 59, male, was shot late morning on September 22, 2025, at A.L. Davis Playground in Central City, New Orleans. Police were called just before noon to the 2700 block of LaSalle Street, where officers found him suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball goal. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital and later pronounced dead; the case was reclassified as a homicide after the coroner identified him and determined he died of gunshot-related injuries.
