When deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office performed a welfare check on the evening of May 25, 2025, they entered a home in the 5600 block of West County Road 250 North and discovered three people dead from gunshot wounds. Among them was Harriet Kowalski, 102, female, who was found alongside her daughter, 73-year-old Linda Ciastko, and son-in-law, 75-year-old Leonard Ciastko.
