Marcus Odiggs Jr., 23, a man from Chicago, was shot on the evening of Monday, August 18, 2025, while standing on the sidewalk in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood. According to police, someone opened fire at about 6:50 p.m., striking Marcus Odiggs Jr., 23, in the head. He was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the Cook County medical examiner's office and police said.
