On June 23, 2025, in a quiet home on the 6000 block of South Brian Way in east Boise, Idaho, 80-year-old Kathleen Hamilton was found dead. A welfare check requested by concerned individuals led Ada County Sheriff's deputies to the residence at approximately 4 p.m. Upon entry, they discovered the bodies of Kathleen and her 51-year-old son, Travis Hamilton.
An investigation by the Ada County Sheriff's Office determined that Kathleen Hamilton had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the
head and chest. The Ada County Coroner's Office subsequently ruled her death a homicide. Her son, Travis Hamilton, was also found deceased at the scene from what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Detectives concluded that Travis Hamilton had shot his mother before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide. The investigation into the tragic event is ongoing, with the Ada County Sheriff's Office continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to the mother and son's deaths. No further suspects are being sought in connection with the incident.
