On a tragic Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the life of 66-year-old Kelly Jenks, a White/Caucasian male, was brought to a violent end in his Burley, Idaho, home. Responding to a call around 6:21 p.m., deputies from the Cassia County Sheriff's Office made a grim discovery. Kelly was found deceased on his living room floor, the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. The horror deepened when investigators located his wife, Donna Jenks, 62, also deceased from a gunshot wound, inside a closet near the back of the house.
The brutal killings of Kelly and Donna Jenks were not an isolated incident but part of a shocking multi-county crime spree that claimed two other lives the same day. The investigation quickly gained momentum as authorities pieced together evidence from the various crime scenes. Neighborhood video surveillance from the Jenks's residence proved crucial, capturing footage of a gold 2013 Toyota Tundra and a man entering and leaving the home that afternoon. This evidence allowed law enforcement from multiple agencies to swiftly identify a person of interest.
Later that same night, the investigation led to a traffic stop near Shoshone, where a Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy pulled over the gold Toyota Tundra seen in the surveillance footage. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Benjamin Roy Naylor, was taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, Naylor was reportedly wearing a camouflage jacket and was armed with a 1911-style handgun in a shoulder holster.
In the aftermath, Benjamin Roy Naylor was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, along with a deadly-weapon enhancement, for the deaths of Kelly and Donna Jenks and the two other victims in the connected homicides in Cassia and Minidoka counties. He was booked into the Mini-Cassia facility and held without bond pending court proceedings. The community was left to mourn the loss of the couple, who were remembered as loving parents to their daughter, Jerica, and devoted grandparents to their recently born granddaughter, Adalee. Kelly had retired after 36 years of service with the City of Burley Water Department.
