On December 13, 2017, 58-year-old Christopher Fassett, owner of Fassett Transmission in Burley, Idaho, was found deceased in his shop from multiple gunshot wounds. The subsequent investigation revealed that 21-year-old Luis Gabriel Ponce had entered the shop with the intent to rob Fassett. During the encounter, Fassett offered Ponce a job instead of money, attempting to assist him.
