Greg Smith, 69, a male resident of Fort Myers, was found dead on July 31, 2025, near the back of a property off Billy's Creek Drive by Ortiz Avenue. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office cordoned off the home and the area behind it, working through the night as crime scene vans and a mobile command center arrived. The scene stretched from the house to a ditch behind the property, where Greg Smith, 69, male, was discovered, and investigators quickly classified the case as a homicide.
