Christopher Iglesia, a 24-year-old man from Lehigh Acres, Florida, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2025. His passing was entrusted to Lee County Cremation Services in Fort Myers.
Authorities reported that the fatal incident occurred outside a Mexican restaurant in Fort Myers following an argument that escalated into violence. The confrontation, which began inside the establishment, continued into the parking lot, where it quickly turned physical. During the altercation, Steve Iglesia, 25, allegedly brandished a handgun and fatally shot his brother, Christopher Iglesia.
Law enforcement responded to the scene around 8 p.m. on New Year's Day, discovering Christopher Iglesia deceased with gunshot wounds. The exact number of wounds sustained was not disclosed by officials. Following an investigation, Steve Iglesia was taken into custody early Thursday morning and charged with second-degree murder and battery. A Lee Circuit Judge ruled that he would be held without bond for the murder charge, while a $2,500 bond was set for the battery charge.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Hamid Hunter and Andreas Gardiner. Steve Iglesia is scheduled for arraignment on February 3, 2025.
