On a warm Saturday evening in Richmond Hill, Georgia, on September 20, 2025, the life of 19-year-old Umar Haqq was tragically cut short. Gunfire erupted at the Ashton Apartment Complex on Harris Trail Road, leaving a scene of violence and loss. When officers from the Richmond Hill Police Department arrived at approximately 10:00 p.m., they discovered Mr. Haqq and another young man, 18-year-old James Wallace of Savannah, both suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third individual was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The investigation into the double homicide was quickly handed over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. In the initial days of the investigation, law enforcement officials reported that the suspect or suspects were still at large, and no arrests had been made.
