Ignacio Berber Zavala, 43, a male from Hayward, was shot on the evening of August 22, 2025, near a homeless encampment behind the 30000 block of San Antonio Street.
Officers responding just after 8 p.m. on a reported medical emergency found the 43-year-old with a gunshot wound; he was transported for treatment and later died.
It was Hayward's sixth homicide of the year, and police opened a homicide investigation under case number 2025-048472.
