Detectives said roughly 30 people appeared to have been gathered in the street—possibly for a memorial—when an argument escalated and shots rang out. One other man survived and was reported to be in stable condition as officers worked the scene, collecting spent casings and canvassing for witnesses. The shooting time was variously logged around 2:04–2:40 a.m., consistent with multiple dispatch and media reports from the intersection.
Public records identified the victim as Yasmaine Kawoant Craddock of Los Angeles. Coroner listings and local death reports placed his age at 38 and confirmed the hospital pronouncement on September 5, 2025. Those same records noted his race as Black and recorded the death as a homicide by gunfire.
As of the initial investigations, the Los Angeles Police Department said they were searching for a suspect or suspects and indicated the gunfire might have been gang-related, though no arrests were immediately announced. Subsequent roundups of violent-crime incidents in the area did not report a booking tied to Craddock's case, and victim registries listed him among those lost to gun violence in the city on that date.
