Leticia 'Letty' Annette Villarreal, a 31-year-old woman, died on May 31, 2025, in Yuma, Arizona. On that Saturday night, firefighters responded to a house fire near 16th Street and 10th Avenue shortly after 11:25 p.m. Upon entering the smoke-filled residence, emergency crews discovered the unconscious bodies of Leticia Villarreal and a man later identified as 32-year-old Dustin Trease.
Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Initially, the circumstances surrounding their deaths were unclear, but investigators quickly determined the fire was an act of arson. Further investigation revealed a grim sequence of events. The Yuma Police Department confirmed that both Villarreal and Trease had sustained gunshot wounds. After a thorough investigation, law enforcement concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide.
