Vardan Tofalyan was a 31-year-old white male, who was present on April 3, 2010, at around 4:30 p.m., inside the Hot Spot Café, a Mediterranean restaurant in the Valley Village district of Los Angeles. He had gathered with several acquaintances for what appears to have been a memorial luncheon following a gravesite visit earlier in the day for a friend who had died in a car accident the previous year.
