Rodolfo Grijalva, 39, a Hispanic/Latino man, was shot and killed on the evening of October 23, 2025, in the unincorporated East Los Angeles neighborhood of City Terrace. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded around 8:20 p.m. to City Terrace Park on the 1100 block of North Hazard Avenue, where they found him suffering from gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition as detectives established a large crime scene and began their investigation. County authorities publicly identified Grijalva two days later.
Investigators said the shooting followed an argument, and that two calls for help came from locations just blocks apart, including the area near the park on Hazard Avenue. As of November 2, 2025, authorities had not announced any arrests or publicly identified suspects and were asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
In the days after the killing, relatives created an online fundraiser, describing Grijalva as a devoted father, son, and friend whose life was “tragically taken” at City Terrace Park. They noted he was 39 and left behind three children, and they appealed to the community for help with funeral costs and immediate support for his family.
