On January 9, 2001, Byong Sun Park, a 42-year-old Korean American woman, was tragically murdered in Houston, Texas. Her death was part of a violent rampage carried out by her estranged husband, Ki Yung Park, age 54. The incident began at the couple’s convenience store, Stop By Market No. 2, located in northwest Houston. Byong Sun Park’s body was later discovered inside a cooler at the store, indicating she had been killed prior to the subsequent shootings.
