In 1987, the quiet life of 74-year-old Belle Burkhard, a white female resident of the Alpine Manor Nursing Home in Walker, Michigan, came to a tragic and unexpected end. Her death was not from natural causes, but rather one in a series of heinous acts committed by two of the very people entrusted with her care. Burkhard was one of five elderly women murdered within the facility by nurse's aides Gwendolyn Graham and Catherine Wood.
