On July 30, 1992, Adriane Hunter, a 27-year-old African American woman from Middletown, New York—originally associated with Poughkeepsie—was found brutally murdered near the charred remains of the Hillcrest Manor Restaurant in Goshen, New York. Her nude body had been stabbed 47 times and was discovered later that same day. Hunter left behind two daughters. Her death was part of a chilling pattern of violence that gripped the Hudson Valley region during the early 1990s.
