On a September evening in 1982, a 21-year-old Caucasian female named Kristina Diane Nelson and her 18-year-old stepsister, Jacqueline "Brandy" Miller, left Kristina's apartment in Lewiston, Idaho. The two young women, who both worked as janitors at the Lewiston Civic Theatre, were heading for a short walk to a nearby grocery store.
