On January 4, 1982, George Sonnenberg, a 65-year-old white male residing in Jacksonville, Florida, was the victim of a fatal arson attack. Sonnenberg lived in a boarding house where he had reportedly begun a personal relationship with Ottis Elwood Toole, a local handyman with a troubled past.
