On February 6, 1980, the body of David Schallart, an 18-year-old White male from Pensacola, Florida, was discovered approximately 125 feet off the eastbound lane of Interstate 10, five miles east of Chipley. He had been shot five times in the left side of the head, indicating a brutal and deliberate execution-style killing.
