Khachik Safaryan, a 43-year-old Armenian man, was found shot to death in his Hollywood apartment on December 11, 2008. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Tamarind Avenue, located in the Little Armenia neighborhood of Los Angeles. His 8-year-old daughter, Lusine, also of Armenian descent, was discovered dead alongside him, both victims of gunshot wounds to the head. The bodies were found by Safaryan’s 15-year-old daughter when she returned home from school around 3:15 p.m. that day.
Lusine was found on the couch, while Khachik Safaryan was located in a separate room.
Authorities believe the double homicide occurred between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. on the morning of December 11. There was no evidence of forced entry into the apartment, and the family’s white 2008 Infiniti was later found several blocks away, though it was unclear who had moved the vehicle. The lack of forced entry and absence of a known motive added complexity to the investigation. Neighbors expressed shock, noting that such violence was unprecedented in the area.
Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement, including a $75,000 reward offered for information leading to an arrest, no suspects have been identified or apprehended in connection with the murders of Khachik Safaryan, the 43-year-old Armenian male victim, and his daughter Lusine. The case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek public assistance in uncovering any leads that might bring justice to the victims and their family.
