On February 15, 1976, the bodies of two 14-year-old girls, including Eva Violet Dvorak, a white female from Calgary, Canada, were discovered west of the city along Highway 1. Eva Violet Dvorak and her friend, also a 14-year-old girl named Patsy McQueen, had been sent home from Ian Bazalgette Junior High School earlier that Friday after being caught drinking.
